COVID-19 outbreaks at UHNBC declared over

Four patients died as a result of the outbreaks in the internal medicine and primary medical units at the Prince George hospital

Northern Health declared the COVID-19 outbreaks at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.’s internal medicine ward and primary medical units over on Wednesday.
The outbreaks were first declared on Sept. 24 and Oct. 4. In total, 34 patients and 11 staff members connected to the outbreak tested positive for COVID-19.
A total of four patients died as a result of the outbreak, Northern Health’s statement said.
“Northern Health extends condolences to the families, friends and caregivers of the patients who passed away,” the statement said. “(Northern Health) also wishes to thank the hardworking nurses, staff and physicians who have continued to provide excellent care in these challenging circumstances.”
No new cases have been linked to the outbreaks since mid-October.
