Downtown Prince George fire under investigation

A fire at 3:15 a.m. did considerable damage to one vacant commercial building and added smoke damage to adjacent businesses. The fire happened in the 700 block of Victoria Street and is now the subject of an investigation.

A fire at 3:15 a.m. did considerable damage to one vacant commercial building and added smoke damage to adjacent businesses. The fire happened in the 700 block of Victoria Street and is now the subject of an investigation.

"The fire was confined to the business that it began in," said Prince George Fire Rescue Service

assistant chief Elden Gjerde. "The premises were unoccupied at the time and the rest of the building received only minor smoke damage."

It took 19 firefighters from four halls a little more than two hours to extinguish. There is no damage estimate available yet. No injuries were reported. PGFR wished to acknowledge the help they received from the RCMP, BC Ambulance Service and the City of Prince George during this incident.
