Sandra DaSilva is the new owner of the Hospice Dream Home lottery grand prize worth $480,000 and got the keys to her new 2,754 square-foot home at 7648 Stillwater Crescent Thursday afternoon.

"I had a feeling in my gut I was going to win," said DaSilva, who won with ticket No. 5292 of 8,999. "But when you buy the ticket it's not to actually win the house. It's to support the Hospice Society that does such good work in our community. That's why we all buy tickets to anything. Not to win but to support the community."

Donna Flood, executive director of the Prince George Hospice Society, would like to thank the public for their continued support as well as all the sponsors.

The lottery was a sell out, which means maximum continued support for the Rotary Hospice House, added Flood. The Dream Home Lottery is the biggest fundraising effort put on by the Prince George Hospice Society, which supports three beds at the hospice house.

The society is a non-profit, which relies on donations from the public to provide palliative care for guests, while offering support to grieving family members.
