Prince George RCMP took eight people into custody after raising a home on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Members of the Problem Orientated Policing Team (POP) and Downtown Safety Unit, with the assistance of the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a home on the 1100 block of Vancouver Street at about 3 p.m.

After the eight people were taken into custody, a search of the home turned up heroin and crack cocaine - in amounts consisistent with drug trafficking, say police - as well as a replica firearm and other weapons.

Parts of Vancouver Street and 11th Avenue were closed during the first stages of the investigation but later reopened.

There was no immediate word on charges, with police saying updates will be made available.
