Evacuation alert issued for McLeod Lake area fire

A wildfire burning in the Noonlang Lake area, northwest of Prince George, has prompted an evacuation alert for area residents.

The alert was issued Sunday by both the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George as it straddles the border between the two districts, about 30 km west of Carp Lake Provincial Park.

The community of McLeod Lake and the McLeod Lake Indian Band reserve are further away to the northeast.

The G51344 fire is about 340 hectares in size, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

To the south, the regional district’s evacuation order remains in place for the Great Beaver Lake wildfire, which was nearly 2,000 hectares in size as of Sunday afternoon.
