The BC Coroners Service is investigating a fatal fire in Prince George on Tuesday which claimed the life of one person.

Prince George Fire Rescue responded to call Tuesday afternoon to one of the units at Hart Haven, a 30-unit seniors residence located in the 6900 block of Dagg Road.

No other details have been released about the person who died in the fire or what might have caused it.

The fire is not believed to be of a suspicious nature.

“I can confirm the fatality,” said PGFR chief Cliff Warner. “As of the end of the day (Friday) it was still being investigated by the coroner.

“We likely will be able to release details early next week.”

Hart Haven opened in July 2012 as a provincial government-funded project to provide low-cost housing for seniors.
