A goal of gathering 20,000 pounds of food was exceeded during a drive in advance of Thanksgiving Day.

The proceeds of the effort, carried out by the Prince George Interfaith Council - and notably the Church of Latter-Day Saints - will go to the Salvation Army.

Brown paper bags was dropped off at households throughout the city this week and residents were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items. Volunteers picked up the donations on Saturday.

A final count will be released once tallied.
