Four Rivers Co-op alleges two companies owe it a combined $456,151 for unpaid bills.

Four Rivers Co-operative is suing two companies for allegedly failing to pay for nearly $500,000 in petroleum products.

In separate BC Supreme Court filings on March 3 and 4 in Prince George, the Vanderhoof-based, member-owned chain is seeking repayment from Western Logging Ltd. and Shane Bree, who carries on business as Bree’s Western Logging, and Tree to Tree Contracting Ltd.

The statement of claim against Bree, a resident of Quesnel, said a commercial credit account was opened with Four Rivers on Feb. 1, 2021.

As of Feb. 12, 2025, Four Rivers was owed $153,859.75 for the supply of petroleum products and other services.

“Despite demand for payment made on behalf of the plaintiff, the defendants have neglected or refused to pay the debt,” said the filing by lawyer Roy Stewart.

In a March 4 filing, Four Rivers alleged Tree to Tree of Smithers owed $311,292.05 since opening a commercial credit account on Jan. 8, 2021.

None of the allegations has been tested in court and the defendants have yet to file a response.

Four Rivers, according to its LinkedIn profile, operates in 13 North Central B.C. communities, between Kitimat and Valemount and boasts 36,000 members.
