"In today's globalized world, we are connected to each other more than we may realize," said Mark Miller, CEO at the Family Y.

"YMCA Peace Week helps remind us that we can each play a part in making our communities healthier and more peaceful."

A call is out for Peace Week nominees to win the Peace Week Medallion, an internationally known and respected award. Deadline for nominations is Dec. 31.

Applications must demonstrate a commitment to peace making in the following categories:

**Northern B.C.-- An individual or group who has had a hand in creating peaceful communities and promotes solutions to violence, conflict or discrimination.

**Youth: An individual under the age of 30 years who has had a direct impact on national or international communities.

**National or International: An individual or group that has had a direct impact on national or international communities.

Nominations can be made by visiting the web site at www.pgymca.com.

During Peace Week Nov. 20 to 27, the YMCA will explore topics such as conflict resolution, co-operation, environmental awareness, and connections between local and global issues.
