A previously scheduled and then cancelled public hearing for a development near the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre has been postponed for a second time.
The public hearing to rezone the property at 880 Guay Rd. was originally scheduled to take place at city council’s final meeting of 2024 but was cancelled after city staff said they couldn’t be sure that notice went to all the required parties during the Canada Post strike.
The city sent out notice on Jan. 3 that the hearing was being rescheduled for the Jan. 13 council meeting, but on Jan. 8, staff announced it had been cancelled once again.
No reason was given for the cancellation in the notice.
However, a city spokesperson told The Citizen by email that the cancellation is because the applicant did not update the signage on the property advertising the public hearing to include the date of the new hearing.
“They have to do those 10 days in advance of the public hearing as per s.7.9 of Bylaw No. 9423, 2023,” the spokesperson said. “So because of the requirements not being met it has been delayed.”
On behalf of Eastway Sand and Gravel, L&M Engineering is looking to rezone 22.7 hectares of the property from AG: Greenbelt and P6: Special Institutional to M2: General Industrial and another 3.3 hectares rezones from AF: Agriculture and Forestry and P6: Special Institution to AG: Greenbelt.
This would allow Tyrod Industrial to relocate to the property to expand its operations.
