With spring in full effect, it's time for Prince George crews to resurface and repave roads and sidewalks impacted by winter's toll, as well as those in need of upgrades.
Today (April 22), the local neighbourhoods where 38 road- and five sidewalk-rehabilitation projects will take place for the 2021 season were unveiled and appear to include at least one in every corner of the city.
This year's stretch of roads equates to 43 lane-kilometres for a budgeting total of $5.8 million, while 1.3 lane-kilometres of sidewalk will be tended to in the coming months in the amount of $700,000.
The budgets are the same as they were in 2020, the city explains in a statement this afternoon, and work will be done based on weather conditions.
Here are the projects as listed by the City of Prince George, with operations scheduled to begin as early as mid-May:
ROADS
According to the city, the longest project is the 4.3 lane-kilometre stretch of Northwood Pulpmill Road.
SIDEWALKS
- Highland Drive (East/South) - Vellencher to Austin Road
- 20th Avenue (North/South) - Queensway to Maple Street
- Longest of the 2021 projects
- Simon Fraser Avenue (East/South) - Eton to Cowart Road
- Ospika Boulevard (East/South) Wheelchair ramps - Ferry Avenue to Pinewood Street
- Ospika Boulevard (East/South) - Ferry Avenue to Pinewood Street
- Asphalt sidewalk rehab
The city adds prep work for road line painting will also start soon, expected to be done by the end of June.
