In April 2021, someone is going to be the proud owner of a new home in the Aberdeen Glen Subdivision of Prince George.
Today (Nov. 27), the Spruce Kings officially launched its 39th annual Show Home Lottery, which includes a $670,000, fully-furnished house located at 2754 Links Drive.
Each year, the organization sells tickets for local and regional residents in giving them a chance to win the house, along with Mega 50/50 jackpots and early-bird draws, with proceeds going to support the community-based hockey club.
For the 2020-21 edition, Hopson Construction has built a 2,600 sq-ft. Home that includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms, an office, a two-door garage and a vaulted ceiling.
It also comes complete with home decor, furniture and up-to-date appliances.
There’s a slight change to the Show Home Lottery this year in the era of COVID-19 as the residence will remain closed to the public for the time-being.
In a release, the Spruce Kings say this to meet the current public health orders in place by Dr. Bonnie Henry, which states no indoor gatherings are to be hosted of any size, and adjustments will be made when it’s safe to do so.
So, for now, residents are being encouraged to buy tickets for the Show Home online or by calling 1-855-962-2926.
Another big change for the 2020-21 campaign, Liz Bennett was unveiled as the new Show Home Lottery Manager on Thursday (Nov. 26).
The Prince George resident is said to have been involved with other local organizations like Iceman competition, Tourism PG and the local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
The lottery also includes two Mega 50/50 jackpots, which could see two lucky people walk away with up to $100,000 each.
The three early-bird draws include 100 extra Mega 50/50 tickets, a Prince George restaurant package worth $1,400 and a mountain bike and gift-certificate prize from PG Sports and Evolve.
The Show Home draw date is scheduled for April 30, 2021.
Other key dates are as follows:
- Jan. 1 = First early-bird prize, 100 extra Mega 50/50 tickets
- Feb. 12 = First Mega 50/50 jackpot draw
- Feb. 26 = Second early-bird prize, $1,400 Prince George restaurant package
- April 9 = Third early-bird prize, PB Sports and Evolve mountain bike and gift certificate
- April 30 = Second Mega 50/50 jackpot draw (same day as Show Home)
Tickets for the Show Home are $125 each, while Mega 50/50 tickets are $25 each.
