Drive BC says Highway 97 will be closed until 8 p.m. tonight (Feb. 20) south of Prince George.
This follows a serious vehicle incident around 9:30 a.m. today as Prince George RCMP and first responders tended to the scene between Coruval and Patterson Roads.
The site is located about eight kilometres south of Pineview.
The provincial service says drivers should expect an additional five hours of travel time via a possible alternate route:
- Highway 16 east to...
- Highway 5 south to...
- Highway 24 west to...
- Highway 97 south
Drive BC says it'll provide an update at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Commuters heading south of Prince George this morning (Feb. 20) won't get past Pineview.
The Prince George RCMP and other first responders are on scene to a motor vehicle incident on Highway 97 between Coruval and Patterson Roads for what is being deemed as a serious situation.
Drive BC initially reported the highway as closed in both directions 21 km south of the city at 9:30 a.m. and there's no detour available.
Mounties believe the road will be closed for several hours as a result of the incident.
