Commuters heading north from Prince George today (Dec. 15) may want to take extra precaution at higher elevations.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Pine Pass as of 4 a.m. this morning thanks to a storm system that's moving across northern B.C.

It's believed that 10 cm of snow could accumulate by later tonight and flurries will remain consistent well into Wednesday morning (Dec. 16).

The national weather service states these conditions could cause hazardous roads for all traffic.

Drivers are expected to be prepared and to adjust their habits if they're making headway through the region in the next 24 hours.

A snowfall warning is also in place for B.C.'s Peace River region and for the inland section of the north coast, both of which should see the same conditions as the Pine Pass within the next day.
