A new holiday shopping initiative in Prince George wants to reward you for simply shopping locally.
The #HolidayPG campaign, delivered by the Prince George Chamber of Commerce (PGCC), encourages shoppers to frequent local stores and support the businesses that give back to the community.
“The purpose is to incentivize shoppers to go to think and shop local, while providing the businesses with a built-in marketing campaign they can use, as we will be coming through their businesses to find local shoppers for daily prizes,” says PGCC CEO Todd Corrigall.
“If we can support our local businesses by adding $20, $50 or $100 to the till this holiday season, we all benefit and this is a great way for the Chamber to help encourage everyone to support the businesses that support our community every day.”
Between tomorrow (Nov. 27) and Dec. 17, the PGCC's 'Elves' will be out at businesses, looking for those local shoppers.
If you’re caught shopping local, you’ll receive a local gift card on the spot!
For another chance to be entered for weekly prizes, you can take a picture of yourself purchasing from a local business during the contest period and tag the Chamber, use the hashtag #HolidayPG and you will be entered into a weekly draw for a $100 gift card to a local business.
All social media entries are eligible for the weekly draw which will be held every Friday afternoon.
The final draw on the Dec. 18 is a mega-prize couples event for New Years’ Eve.
In addition, every PGCC member business that supports this marketing campaign will be entered into a final draw for an identical New Years’ Eve package.
