Following 30 years of service in Prince George Homesteader Meats has closed its doors.

The door were locked Monday with no explanation from by the young owners Al and Jodie Dubois who purchased the shop about two years ago from Ben and Russella Klassen.

Ben is now working at the site in Parkhill Centre to take care of all food and meat items that remained in the shop.

"I was asked to do this by the bank involved," said Klassen, who added discussions are being held about the future of the business.

"This just breaks my heart. This was a wonderful shop and I thoroughly enjoyed the business and or customers," said Klassen who purchased the business in 1980 and changed the name to Homesteader Meats from Bert's Meat Market.

Both Ben and Russella were pleased to talk to The Citizen as a way to prevent customers from making a trip to the shop for nothing.

Attempts to reach current owners for comment were unsuccessful.
