A number of senior citizens celebrating the first National Seniors Day Friday in Prince George said "it's about time" this important segment of the population is being nationally recognized.

A number of senior citizens celebrating the first National Seniors Day Friday in Prince George said "it's about time" this important segment of the population is being nationally recognized.

"This is an important day in combatting ageism," said Lola-Dawn Fennell, general manager of Prince George Council of Seniors, explaining ageism is "being looked at as less worthy, less able and less intelligent."
