Police chased down a full-sized pick-up that was involved in multiple collisions in Prince George this weekend.

The vehicle was impounded and a 50-year-old man has been issued a 24-hour suspension, violation ticket, and will appear in court at a later date.

On Saturday (July 6) at about 3:30 p.m., the Prince George RCMP received multiple reports of vehicle collisions relating to a full-size pick-up truck driving on Ospika Boulevard and Massey Drive.

Members of the public provided updates to police as frontline officers were en route.

The truck came to a stop near the intersection of Massey and Opie Crescent after both front wheels deflated.

The driver then fled on foot, but members of the public led officers to the man who was then detained as part of the investigation.

The driver then underwent a 12-step evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Once the evaluation was completed, the DRE believed the driver to be impaired by a drug and a urine sample was obtained for analysis.

Police say a further investigation found the vehicle was uninsured and displaying license plates that belonged to another vehicle.

The driver was also prohibited from driving at the time of the incident.

Mounties say no injuries were reported and the investigation is continuing.
