School District No. 57 ‘s (SD57) superintendent Marilyn Marquis-Forster has resigned.
An SD57 press release announced that Marquis-Forster has chosen to devote more time to the pursuit of other activities and opportunities.
In the release, the board of education said it would like to thank Ms. Marquis-Forster for her service to the School District, specifically with the operationalization of the Strategic Plan and her focus on student success.
“Last night the board received the resignation of Marilyn and superintendent. She expressed that she wanted to spend her time pursuing other opportunities. Of course, it’s a shock to the district and we would like to thank Marilyn for her service,” Board Chair Tim Bennett, tells PrinceGeorgeMatters.
He says the board will now meet and start the process of looking for an interim superintendent, as someone who can come in and move the district forward for the rest of the school year.
“We will also be starting our search for the next superintendent and recognizing that takes some time because we want to ensure that we are bringing the best possible candidate for the district.”
Bennett says the SD57 will work to continue the work that is happening throughout the district.
“While not having anyone in the superintendent chair for the next little bit is an impact to the district, we have a great leadership team in place who will move the district forward with hopefully little impact to our classes.”
