Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill and Jepson Petroleum Ltd. were ranked 25th and 26th respectively in the province for their efforts in collecting and recycling used lubricating oil, oil filters, oil containers, used antifreeze and antifreeze containers.
The facilities were recognized by the BC Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA) and received Top Collector Award plaques for their efforts in 2020.
“These B.C. organizations are some of the most dedicated used oil and antifreeze Return Collection Facilities in Canada,” David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association, said. “They continue to provide convenient, environmentally-friendly and easy-to-use infrastructures for their DIY customers to return their used oil and antifreeze materials."
The criteria for being a top collector included the total amount of used oil, oil filters, oil containers, antifreeze and antifreeze containers collected at the RCF location, the total number of years participating in BCUOMA’s RCF Program and a demonstration of continued support of BCUOMA and other recycling stewardship related programs.
Out of the six organizations recognized as 2020 Long Time Service Award winners that have been program members since its inception in 2003 were the local Quinn Street Transfer Station and the Vanway Transfer & Recycle Station.
