Logan re-elected chief as Lheidli T'enneh First Nation votes

New-look council takes shape after a night of counting ballots

Lheidli T'enneh Chief Dolleen Logan has been re-elected.

Members of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation have selected their leadership for the next two years, following the general election held on Wednesday, April 9.

Voting took place between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., with ballots cast for the positions of chief, council, and three seats on the Lands Authority.

Ballot counting concluded early Thursday morning at about 4 a.m.

Dolleen Logan was re-elected as chief, securing 247 votes. Her only opponent was Regina Toth, who received 153 votes.

Eight candidates were elected at-large to the newly expanded council:

  • Crystal Gibbs – 248 votes
  • Dominic Frederick – 163 votes
  • Clayton Pountney – 160 votes
  • Kyle McIntosh – 146 votes
  • Tasheena Seymour – 139 votes
  • Jamie Bird – 131 votes
  • Miranda Seymour – 128 votes
  • Doug Olson – 123 votes

Only two councillors — Gibbs and McIntosh — are returning. The previous council had only five members.

In the Lands Authority race, the three elected members are:

  • Clayton Pountney – 177 votes
  • Miranda Seymour – 176 votes
  • Jamie Bird – 165 votes

In a statement, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation extended its gratitude to all candidates who ran, and acknowledged their commitment to community service and vision for the First Nation’s future.
