A man wanted by Mackenzie RCMP in connection with a suspicious death there has been arrested and appeared in court Saturday.
Police issued a public notice on Wednesday, Oct. 2 calling for tips in the search for Drake Matthew Kerr after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.
“We are glad to report that Mr. Kerr is currently in police custody and will be held in custody to appear before the courts,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, BC RCMP spokesperson. “Kerr is in custody because of the hard work our officers and the public’s assistance in locating this man wanted for violent offences.”
Kerr remains in custody with his next court appearance on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
“The North District Serious Crime and Mackenzie RCMP are grateful for the public’s assistance on this file," said Urano. "If you have any information regarding this file and have not yet spoken to investigators please contact the Mackenzie RCMP at 250-997-3288.”
The charge came in connection with the death of a man in Mackenzie early Sunday, Sept. 29. Responding to a report of shots being fired, police found a man’s body in a home on Centennial Drive.
