Man arrested after alleged downtown Prince George rooftop break and enter

A Prince George man is in custody after allegedly attempting to break into a business from a roof and then trying to evade officers by jumping across more buildings. 

Cpl. Craig Douglass says police received a report last night (May 8) at roughly 8:45 p.m. from a witness indicating a man was trying to break into a business on 1400-block, 3 Ave. 

When police arrived, they saw a 26-year-old man on the roof who is known to police. 

Officers tried to talk the suspect down from the roof, but he was uncooperative and tried to evade officers by running across numerous other building rooftops. 

Arresting officers were met with resistance by the suspect was taken into custody a short time later. 

Douglass says the man was arrested for Break and Enter, Mischief and Resisting Arrest.

He was held in police custody overnight and will appear in court virtually today (May 9) pending approval of charges by the BC Prosecution Service.
