Man arrested following armed robberies

A 47-year-old man from the southern interior has been arrested by Prince George RCMPmembers following two separate armed robberies in the city Monday night.

A 47-year-old man from the southern interior has been arrested by Prince George RCMPmembers following two separate armed robberies in the city Monday night.

The suspect was apprehended without incident shortly after the First Litre Cold Beer and Wine Store in the 1700 block Strathcona Avenue was robbed of cigarettes and liquor at about 10 p.m.

The man is also a suspect in a robbery Friday of the Shooters Liquor Store in the Redwood Mall in the 1600 block of Victoria Street at about 7:30 p.m. making off with a small amount of cigarettes.

"The suspect claimed to have a firearm, but none was seen by the clerk," RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said in a press release.

Prince George RCMP are recommending two charges charges of robbery with a firearm and one charge each of uttering threats and public mischief.
