A man found behind the wheel of a stolen pickup truck stockpiled with an assortment of weapons was sentenced Wednesday to a further 731 days in jail.
Brent Jameson Morgan, 28, has remained in custody since April 10, 2019 - a total of 390 days - after RCMP deployed three tracking dogs and handlers to apprehend him and Miranda Gabrielle Anderson, 20, in the Woodpecker area south of Prince George.
Police spotted a pickup stolen from a Piedmont Crescent home earlier the same day on Highway 97. Before an attempt was made to stop the vehicle it turned onto Carver Road, went through a ditch and got stuck in a field, prompting the suspects to flee on foot.
Anderson suffered minor bite wounds and was taken to hospital.
Police found a loaded shotgun, an improvised explosive device and other weapons near Morgan. The bomb was later destroyed by BC RCMP's explosive disposal section.
He was sentenced to the term on a count of possessing a prohibited or restricted weapon and was prohibited from driving for one year for dangerous driving.
Morgan was also issued a lifetime weapons prohibition and ordered to provide a DNA sample and sentenced to time served on counts of possessing a firearm contrary to an order and possessing explosives.
Anderson was sentenced on February 14 to one year probation for willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
