The Prince George RCMP have identified the body found Feb. 22 near Prince George as those of a man who went missing in January.

Police say Jordan Taylor McLeod is a homicide victim and continue to investigate his death. His body was found by a man walking a dog off the Kaykay Forest Service Road, past the end of Nukko Lake Road, northwest of the city.

An autopsy confirmed the body's identity.

Police say they know there are people with knowledge of what happened to McLeod and they are asking them to come forward.

McLeod, 24, was reported missing on Jan. 19 and RCMP suspect he was involved in a shots fired incident on Upper Fraser Road, near Highway 16 east of the city, on Jan. 16.

He was last seen on that day in Prince George and Vanderhoof, which he is believed to often frequent.

After a call for the public's help, a grey 2013 Chrysler 200 police said was part of the investigation was recovered by Vanderhoof RCMP.

Police had been on the lookout for McLeod and a car he had been driving, a burgundy 2006 Chevrolet Malibu with a 'Quality Assured Collision and Glass' decal on both doors and bearing B.C. licence plate 163 RNA.
