Senior Boys Basketball provincials with one medal, but a few players earned extra praise for their play.
The Duchess Park Condors (DPSS) won the bronze medal Saturday morning (March 9), defeating the A.R. MacNeill Ravens (Richmond) by a score of 75-54, and two of their players received recognition from tournament officials as a result.
Dan Zimmerman was dominant in the backcourt for DPSS from start to finish and was bestowed the award for the ‘3A’ provincials’ Best Defensive Player.
Over the four games in Langley, he accumulated a total of 31 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals for the Condors.
Sorren Erricson was placed on the First Team All-Star list for his tournament performance, scoring 54 points in four games and shooting 32 per cent from field-goal range (18/56).
DPSS finished with a record of 3-1 at provincials this year.
D.P. Todd Secondary started as the second-best school in the province for ‘2A’ basketball, but fell to seventh place after losing their quarter-final and consolation semi-final games.
However, the Trojans did win the last game over Westsyde 68-59 on Saturday and one of their players was named to the First Team All-Star roster.
Cameron Sale posted a combined 111 points and 26 rebounds in the tournament, including 43 points in the quarter-final match against George Elliot.

Cedars Christan finished eighth in the ‘1A’ provincial championships, losing three straight games after winning their first match against Deer Lake.
The Eagles lost the last game to Vernon Christian by a score of 70-53.
Meanwhile, Vanderhoof’s Northside Christian Secondary won the ‘1A’ consolation bracket and ending the tournament in ninth place.
After losing the first game, the Northstars won the three games that followed, finishing 3-1 in Langley and defeating Gudangaay Tlaats'gaa Naay of Masset, 74-54 in the final tilt.
