The Prince George Spruce Kings’ first of two contests at the B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) Showcase ended on a high note, despite the earlier-than-normal puck-drop.
Up against West Kelowna in Penticton today (Oct. 4), the red, white, and blue found a way out of a one-goal deficit for the 3-2 comeback victory to nab their fourth victory of the 2019-20 season.
Nick Poisson got two assists in at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) for his team-leading 10th and 11th points of the year.
Fin Williams also recorded two points against West Kelowna, scoring the tying marker in the second period and adding an assist on Chong Min Lee’s game-winner in the next frame.

Goaltender Jett Alexander made 19 saves on 21 shots from the Warriors this morning, while Brock Baier, on the other side of the rink, faced 28 shots from the ‘Kings.
Prince George came out firing in the first period, outshooting their opponents 12-3.
Forward Preston Brodziak eventually found an open net to light the first lamp of the game on a power-play with five minutes left, with assists from Poisson and Ryan McAllister.
West Kelowna pulled away to a 2-1 advantage, scoring at the 8:33 and 14:36 marks of the middle frame, but Williams was able to keep the Fred Page Cup champions alive by making it 2-2 with 28 seconds left.
That came eight seconds into a boarding penalty served by former Cariboo Cougar Brendan Pigeon; Corey Cunningham got an assist and so did Mason Waite, earning his first BCHL point in the process.
Lee’s 3-2 game-winner came at 2:48 in the final 20 minutes of regulation.
Williams and Lee are still tied for most goals for Prince George, each with five since the start of their championship-defending season.
The Spruce Kings are back on Penticton ice tomorrow afternoon (Oct. 5) at 1 p.m. to face the Trail Smoke Eaters and wrap up their visit at the 2019 BCHL Showcase.
Chong Min Lee's 5th of the year early in the 3rd, followed by some big stops from Jett Alexander lead the Spruce Kings to a big 3-2 win over the West Kelowna Warriors!
