The Riverstone Bar and Grill parking lot rumbled with the sound of motorcycles Saturday as Muscle Ride participants arrived at the final stop of their journey.

The Muscle Ride is an annual fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy of Northern B.C., sponsored by Harley Davidson.

The ride began in Kamloops at 9 a.m. and stops were designated in Barrier, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake and Quesnel. At each stop riders were treated to A&W because the restaurant also sponsored the event.

A fire truck escort greeted the bike pack in Kamloops, Barrier, 100 Mile House and Prince George.

"It was a great ride with fantastic weather," said Colin Andrews, director of the Prince George chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG). This is Andrew's fourth Muscle Run and second year organizing it.

Marlene Carkner, whose daughter has Muscular Dystrophy, has been involved with Muscular Dystrophy of Northern B.C. for 10 years. "We're very thankful for the support that we get from Harley Davidson," she said of the Muscle Ride.

For $3 a plate, riders could enjoy a meal at Riverstone. Over 60 meals were sold, said Rhonda Rivers, marketer and promoter for Harley Davidson. A Sunday morning breakfast was also held for Muscle Run participants.

Muscular Dystrophy of Northern B.C. covers a broad region, including every community north of Williams Lake to the Yukon border. The organization offers assistance to families and individuals affected by Muscular Dystrophy and funds research initiatives.
