B.C. now has a recorded total of 1,561 COVID-19 cases.
Dr. Bonnie Henry announced this afternoon (April 15) there were 44 new test positive cases in the past 24 hours.
Northern Health has a new total of 30 after two new cases have appeared.
There are 670 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), 623 in Fraser Health, 92 on Vancouver Island and 146 in Interior Health.
There are no new long-term care facilities with outbreaks. Currently, there are active outbreaks in facilities in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions. There are now 265 people who have tested positive in these facilities.
There has been three new cases related to an outbreak in a nursery in the interior which involves temporary foreign workers. This brings the total number of cases to 26.
The outbreak at the Mission federal correctional institute in the Fraser Valley continues to grow. The institute now has 48 people who have tested positive and seven are in hospital.
There are currently 131 people in acute care in the hospital and 59 in ICU.
There are three new deaths, including the first death in the Interior Health region, for a new B.C. total of 75.
955 have recovered and are no longer in isolation.
