Northern Health test-positive recorded COVID-19 case count rises to 58, B.C. now at 2,392

B.C. now has a total of 2,392 COVID-19 cases after the latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix this afternoon (May 14). 

Henry says there have been 15 new cases over the past 24 hours within the province. 

There are 878 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 1,149 in Fraser Health, 126 in Island Health and 181 in the Interior Health region.

Northern Health has recorded an additional test-positive case, bringing the updated total to 58. 

Of those cases, 53 have recovered in the region.

There are currently 58 people hospitalized from the virus in B.C. with 12 of those cases currently in acute care/ICU. 

Seniors' homes and care facilities have so far resulted in an even 500 cases, including 309 residents and 191 staff. There are 15 seniors' homes where there remain active outbreaks.

Three more deaths have been recorded in the past day which brings the total to 135 provincially. 

A total of 1,885 people have recovered from the virus and are no longer required to be in isolation.

The recovery rate is up slightly, compared with yesterday, at 78.8%, or 1,885 people out of the 2,392 people infected.
