Northern Interior records more than 100 COVID-19 cases in seven-day period

Northern B.C. continues to see high COVID-19 case numbers. 

According to the latest Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Health Service Delivery Area of Case of Residence data released by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), the northern interior recorded 102 cases from Feb. 12-18, 2021. 

Since January 2020, the region has seen 1,859 total cases. 

From Feb. 12-18, 2021, northeast B.C. saw 61 cases while northwest B.C. came in at 130. 

As of the start of the pandemic, the northwest area of the region has recorded 1,411 cases while northeast B.C. has seen under 1,000 with 982. 

As of this publication (Feb. 20) Northern Health sits at a total of 4,252 cases since March 2020 when the virus hit the region. 

There are 292 active cases with 30 people in the hospital, 10 of which are in critical care or ICU. 

The BCCDC says 102 lives have been lost in northern B.C.
