In order to effectively prepare for the business world’s ever-changing landscape, especially with COVID-19 in the picture, local organizations are rallying together to connect leaders to the right outlets.
In late April, the Prince George Chamber of Commerce (PGCC) is set to host a free webinar set to help bring businesses together in understanding the programs currently available in the city for prospective business students.
“Finding affordable labour and building a strong talent pipeline continues to be a major focus for businesses in Prince George,” said PGCC CEO Todd Corrigall, noting short-term labour involving business students can keep businesses competitive in the trying times.
“For businesses, bringing in student talent makes sense – it's a way for businesses to benefit from the energy, skills, and productivity that a student can bring while also investing in the employment skills for the future.”
The virtual gathering is a team effort alongside UNBC and the College of New Caledonia (CNC), known as ‘Today’s Challenges - Tomorrow’s Talent.’
The goal is to teach local businesses about student-talent programs offered at local post-secondary schools, such as co-op’s, apprenticeships, practicums and projects.
The PGCC adds, in a release, it also aims ‘to highlight how Prince George businesses can succeed by using student talent to innovate, save costs and increase capacity.’
“Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to recruit the right students for their organization as well as learn about funding incentives and subsidies offered for hiring student talent.
The webinar takes place April 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and, if interested, you’re asked to register ahead of the event.
