Have you heard of the Prince George Cantata Singers?

It’s a music ensemble that’s lasted 53 years in the northern capital, travelling across the region and showcasing talents in music festivals with up to 80 members each year.

However, resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been a struggle for the organization to stay afloat.

With classic rock being arguably one of the top favourite genres of local residents, the Cantata Singers are hoping the community can rally together once more in helping them stay operational for their next season.

The group is set to host ‘Classic Rock Music Bingo’ next month, a virtual trivia-style evening for all ages in putting their rock'n'roll knowledge to the test.

According to the Cantata Singers, this will be their only fundraising event of the year.

“[It] could go a long way in helping the organization to continue into their next season,” reads a release submitted to PrinceGeorgeMatters.

“Music Bingo is like regular bingo with the difference being the bingo cards. The cards have grid cells like a regular bingo card, but each cell contains a song title instead of a number. Instead of drawing random numbers from a tumbler, songs are played from a playlist. If you can identify the song, mark it on your card. Once you have marked your cells as per the rules of the game, unmute your Zoom Room, shout out BINGO!! and claim your prize.”

The Cantata Singers say more than $1,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs during the 90-minute interactive fundraiser and participants are encouraged to dress up in their best rocker outfits for the occasion.

‘Classic Rock Music Bingo’ is set for May 14, 2021, at 6:30 p.m.

There’s a $10 bingo-card fee for registration, but you can buy as many as you’d like.
