One killed, one seriously injured in Prince George pedestrian hit and run

Mounties in Prince George are looking for a suspect after an early hit and run that has killed one and injured another.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says in a release that shortly after midnight this morning (May 11), a frontline Prince George RCMP officer was on patrol on Victoria Street between 15 and 17 Ave., coming across what looked like a collision. 

The officer found two men suffering from injuries and a severely damaged electric-powered wheelchair and a bike. 

The two men were taken to hospital for treatment. 

Current indications are the man in the wheelchair and the man on the bicycle was hit by a vehicle heading northbound that did not stop. 

The 48-year-old in the wheelchair has since died from his injuries, The 56-year-old bicyclist remains in hospital but is expected to recover. 

Police believe the suspect was driving a dark coloured 2012 or 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle will have major damage to the passenger side. 

Prince George RCMP asks that anyone with information or anyone that sees the vehicle, to contact them immediately. 

Douglass adds police are urging the driver to do the right thing and turn themselves into police.
