With five 20-year-olds listed on the Prince George Cougars’ roster, the team has made the decision to cut two of them for next year.
On Saturday (June 20), Marco Creta and Nikita Krivokrasov were placed on waivers by General Manager and Head Coach Mark Lamb, meaning the two players will look to play their senior WHL season elsewhere.
This leaves Ilijah Colina, Cole Moberg and Jack Sander as the three over-agers currently set for the upcoming 2020-21 campaign pending any other off-season moves.
Creta came to Prince George from Winnipeg in the Jackson Leppard trade back in October 2019, but the defenceman only recorded two assists in 37 games.
His WHL career consists of 27 points, including 22 assists, in 138 games.
Krivokrasov was acquired by the Cougars a month after Creta slipped on a red, white and black sweater in a trade with the Tri-City Americans.
The Russian-American compiled seven points in 27 games with Prince George, including four goals and 36 shots on net.
The weekend move leaves 18 returning players on the Cats’ roster.
Up next for the northern B.C. franchise is the 2020 CHL Import Draft, which is slated for June 30.
