Three men and two women have been released and will head to court later this year after two property-related crimes were reported within minutes of each other.
Mounties tended to the incidents early Sunday (April 26) morning, a vehicle theft and a commercial break-and-enter, which led to the five suspects’ arrest and all of whom are Prince George residents.
“The Prince George RCMP would like to remind vehicle owners, especially pick-up truck owners, to utilize anti-theft devices such as immobilizers,” reads an RCMP release.
At 6:50 a.m., police were called to Ongman Road for reports of a vehicle theft.
An investigation eventually took them to Shelley Road east of the city, where they recovered the vehicle along a cut-down power line.
Two men, aged 30 and 27, and one woman, aged 21, were taken into custody without incident and later released.
Then, at 7 a.m., 10 minutes after the detachment received the first report, Mounties responded to a break-and-enter call from a commercial compound on River Road.
Officers found a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman at the facility and arrested both of them, also without incident and subsequently released.
All five suspects have conditions to appear in court on Aug. 19, 2020 as provincial courts have been delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
