Permit issued for Willow Cale gravel operation

Fraser-Fort George Regional District directors granted a two-year permit to allow a gravel crushing, screening and washing operation on Willow Cale Road next to Carrier Lumber.

Fraser-Fort George Regional District directors granted a two-year permit to allow a gravel crushing, screening and washing operation on Willow Cale Road next to Carrier Lumber.

In doing so, directors also approved amendments that require curtailment during air quality advisories and a paved apron of 50 feet on the property at the entrance in answer to concerns raised by the Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable Society.

The permit, awarded to Brookes Properties Ltd., also requires the operator to fit crushing equipment with a water spray device for dust suppression.

The operation will employ at least two people, operate Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will process about 100,000 cubic metres of gravel, according to a staff report.
