Prince George Fire Centre continues to respond to the Battleship Mountain fire.

The Prince George Fire Centre continues to respond to the Battleship Mountain wildfire (G72150) in the Dawson Creek Zone that was caused by a lightning strike.

An evacuation alert has been issued by the Peace River Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

The wildfire is located approximately 45kms west of the community of Hudson's Hope and is classified as Out of Control at approximately 550 hectares in size. The fire is exhibiting moderate to extreme fire behaviour and additional growth is expected.

Nine Parattack personnel are working to establish structure protection on the limited number of structures in the area. On site are nine firefighters and two helicopters. Additional resources including an Incident Management Team will be responding over the next several days.

High winds are pushing the wildfire to the east and the BC Wildfire Service is working closely with the Peace River Regional District and Emergency Management BC to determine next steps for the Carbon Lake area.

The Battleship Mountain wildfire is now a Wildfire of Note.

More information is available online on the BC Wildfire Service's Wildfires of Note page or through the mobile app.
