At PGSS on Friday, RCMP and ICBC were doing some positive ticketing for students who were practicing safe driving skills.

Friday during Prince George Secondary School’s lunch time, representatives from the RCMP and ICBC were offering some positive reinforcement to young drivers who were practicing safe driving skills including those who were displaying the N, which signifies they are a new driver, having their cell phone safely out of reach or turned off to avoid distracted driving, and obeying all traffic signs.

The young drivers were offered glass wipes, air fresheners, and fast food coupons as rewards for their safe driving habits.

“We’re offering some give aways to the students, tying in the message of a big thank you to students for their good driving behaviour,” Doug MacDonald, ICBC road safety & community coordinator for Northern BC, said. ”This event is just a friendly reminder for students to pay attention when they are driving and the students have been very positive about it.”

This initiative will continue at various locations throughout September and is part of Prince George RCMP’s 2022/2023 back-to-school campaign that promotes increased driver awareness and road safety in Prince George.
