PHOTOS: Prince George embraces love for the cold at 2020 Downtown Winterfest

Ice sculptures, slides, mini-snow golf and more highlighted seasonal celebration

It was a perfect day under sunshine and a few clouds for Prince George to take in one of its marquee events on the yearly calendar.

The 2020 edition of Downtown Winterfest saw hundreds on hundreds of local residents and visitors celebrate the season with activities that featured something for everybody.

International ice sculptors carved several pieces of art for the occasion, including the ever-so-popular Baby Yoda from Star Wars: The Mandalorian, which quickly became a selfie station with the fictional character.

The YMCA of Northern BC constructed a mini-snow golf course this year, while the organizers with the 2020 World Women’s Curling Championships put people’s skills to the test with street curling

The Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum also brought the Cottonwood Express to the Four Seasons Pool parking lot and were one of many participants in this year’s There’s S’more Downtown contest.

Skijor PG also brought two miniature horses for residents to feed.

Making reappearances to Downtown Winterfest were the ice slides, ice throne, the winter market inside the Prince George Civic Centre and street hockey with the Spruce Kings, Cariboo Cougars and Northern Capitals.
