Many of the trails in the Pidherny Recreation Site in Prince George will become unavailable for public use next month as part of a the first phase of a two-year wildfire risk reduction project.
Trail closures are expected to start on Dec. 5 and remain in place until February of next year, with access from the lower parking lot on Pidherny Road closed to the public, according to a release from the B.C. Wildfire Service.
Some trails accessed by the Upper Pidherny parking lot off Foothills Boulevard will remain open during this time. Site users are strongly encouraged to be aware of closures and to respect posted trail closure signs.
The wildfire risk reduction project is anticipated to last two years. The first phase, beginning next month, will be conducted by a local, small-scale salvager.
