A Prince George police dog is being applauded for helping find an elderly man who had gone missing.
RCMP spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper says police received a report of a missing man in the West Lake Area on Monday (Jan. 18) at roughly 5:30 p.m.
A caller said she had been out for a walk with her husband but lost sight of him.
She looked in the area and neighbours also came to help but couldn't find the man.
Cooper says as darkness started to settle in, there was increasing concern for his wellbeing.
Officers arrived with Police Dog Services and quickly began searching from where the man was last seen.
The Police Dog Services team successfully found the man in the bush and brought him back to safety.
He was then checked by Emergency Health Officials, who found no injuries or harm.
"The Prince George RCMP are proud of the quick response by frontline members and the Police Dog Services team," Cooper said in a release.
Their efforts ensured this story ended well for all of those involved.
