Police, pot and a pup

When Prince George RCMP recently checked out a report of mistreated animals, they found a lot more than they were expecting.

A report of two dogs on Highplain Road being mistreated and underfed had merit, so the SPCA became involved, seizing a German Shepherd and her pup for their safety as no owner could be found.

In the mean time, the police discovered a marijuana grow operation inside the residence and in an outside building. Members seized 2,100 plants in various stages of growth along with 8.5 pounds of dried marijuana ready for street distribution. They also found a hydro bypass used in the diversion of electricity.

Police are investigating and seeking the renter of the property.

Anyone with information regarding this case or marijuana grow ops in their area is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
