The Prince George RCMP, along with the B.C. Sheriff Service and Prince George Fire Rescue, will be holding a car wash Saturday to raise money for Special Olympics B.C.
Members from all three organizations will be ready to wash for a minimum donation of $10.
Proceeds from the event will be added to funds raised for the upcoming third annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, which will be held on June 6 at the Prince George RCMP detachment.
"This is such a great cause, these athletes put all their heart into their respective sports and we are happy to help them to have that opportunity," said Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.
"And if that isn't a good enough reason to get your car washed, how often do you get a sheriff, firefighter or police officer washing your car?"
The RCMP officially supports two charities each year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and Cops for Cancer supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.
In Prince George, the torch run, a 3.5-kilometre walk or run event, begins and ends at the local detachment.
Participants are made up of officers, office staff and volunteers from various enforcement agencies in the community, as well as local Special Olympic athletes, coaches, friends and family.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $3 million in British Columbia since 1990.
To date, the run has raised more than $600 million for Special Olympics programs around the world.
More than 4,600 athletes are registered in 57 communities across the province.
The car wash event will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Canadian Tire.
