While COVID-19 has halted numerous events, Remembrance Day ceremonies will still be available to residents in Prince George.

The local Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, will be live-streaming and taping pre-recorded events for next Wednesday (Nov. 11) for those who wish to participate in recognizing those lives lost in the fight for freedom.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. and is expected to run until roughly 11:10 a.m.

Anyone that wishes to place a wreath or poppy at the Cenotaph will be able to do so between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

You are asked to wear a mask and follow COVID-19 social-distancing guidelines, but you're not asked to go to the Cenotaph during ceremonies.

The Prince George branch will also be open to the public on Nov. 11 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with limited space available.

"We would like to acknowledge our Armed Forces Veterans, RCMP Veterans, Cadet Corps, local service clubs and the community that will not be able to attend this important event in person during this challenging time," Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 President Margret Goings said in a release.

Here are ways to view the ceremonies:

  • The live outdoor ceremony will be streamed through the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43's Facebook page starting at 10:40 a.m. and ending around 11:10 a.m.
  • The same events will also be available for viewing through Blake Productions' YouTube channel
  • CKPG TV will present a combined pre-recorded and live presentation starting at 10:30 and running until around 11:30 a.m.
