Cancer has touched all of us in one way or another and the Prince George Cougars are saying Puck You to Cancer.

On Nov. 3 against the Seattle Thunderbirds, the CN Centre will be full of the colour that represents breast cancer: pink. Proceeds from the evening will go toward fighting breast cancer in northern B.C.

"Pink in the Rink" night will include the first Prince George Cougars Society Mega 50/50 Jackpot Night of the 2018-19 season. One lucky fan will win a boatload of cash.

Several businesses will purchase $20,000 of Prince George Cougars Society 50/50 tickets on Nov. 3. Then, these businesses will hand out free 50/50 tickets to the first 2,000 fans (19 years of age or older) starting at noon in front of the CN Centre.

The sponsors buying 50/50 tickets are: The Brink Group, Canadian Tire, Pacific Western Brewery, RE/MAX Centre City, Nechako Bottle Depot, and Climb for Cancer brought to you by Carrier Lumber. The game is sponsored by Northland Auto Group.

“It’s an amazing night for us as we collaborate with two of our favourite partners, the Cougars and the Canadian Cancer Society,” Kyle Bachman from the Northland Auto Group says in a press release. “It is also a tremendous event for our community, not only are we bringing awareness to the fight against cancer but raising a lot of money for a great cause. Plus, one lucky fan is going to win a lot of money!”

The Cougars will also be wearing special pink cancer awareness jerseys for the game that evening. The jerseys will then be auctioned off afterwards through the team website

“We are very excited to be working with the Cougars and our sponsors to ensure that donor dollars go further in supporting those who are touched by cancer,” Sandra Blackwell from the Canadian Cancer Society said in the release.

Tickets are still available for purchase online or at the TicketsNorth box office. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
