It took some near last-minute organization and a bit of grace from Mother Nature, but Prince George still came through once again to help a local non-profit.
A total of $20,215 was raised from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC’s (BIGSNBC) 2020 Glow in the Dark Golf Tournament this past weekend.
That’s a 59 per cent uptick from 2019’s event, which drove home $12,700.
“So very happy to see that number increase this year,” BIGSNBC Community Development Coordinator Jane Gauthier told PrinceGeorgeMatters.
The money raised is earmarked for proactive mentoring programs for Prince George youth.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, and the public’s overwhelming desire to be part of the tournament, BIGSNBC decided to split the event over two nights on Friday (Aug. 28) and Saturday (Aug. 29).
The 19 teams were also divided between two golf courses.
“Life of the Par-Tee” were the Alder Hills victors, while “Lightburn Loring” put up the low score at Pine Valley.
