Prince George Fire Rescue (PGFR) responded to a ‘suspicious’ fire at a Community Garden Building on Milburn Avenue this morning (Feb. 17).

Crews got a call at 8:18 a.m. of a structure fire at 1555 Milburn Ave. The first crews on the scene discovered the building on fire was the Community Garden Building.

The structure was made from heavy timber with outside dimensions of 20 ft by 25 ft.

The first arriving engine was able to quickly get control of the fire, keeping all damage to the initial structure and protecting all exposures around the involved building.

PGFR says a dollar loss estimate is not available at this time due to the unique construction of the building. While there were no injuries reported, the fire department says the incident is suspicious and an investigation is ongoing.
