On April 13, the 2022 B.C. Summer Games will light the torch in celebration of 100 days until the July event.

“We are thrilled to invite the community to celebrate 100 days until Prince George welcomes BC’s best and brightest young athletes for the 2022 BC Summer Games,” said Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games President, Renee McCloskey.

The free event will be open to the whole community and take place at Canada Games Plaza from 6 to 7 p.m.

“This free community festivity will ignite the spirit of the Games with music and entertainment. We hope everyone will be able to join us as we celebrate the spirit that lives here and be a part of our Games,” said McCloskey.

Current and former BC Games athletes will be joining the community to celebrate including Cody Bailey as the torchbearer, Bobby Kelly as the emcee, and Zoe and Araya Spooner will be performing.

The BC Games Society awarded the 2022 BC Summer Games to the City of Prince George in 2017.

The four-day event, which takes place July 21-24, is expected to bring over 3,500 athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators to Prince George from around the province.
